Classes will use floor exercise, balance beam, bars and tumble track trampoline, to build confidence as well as cognitive skills (following direction), coordination (climbing) and balance.

The Five Pea curriculum includes bridges, handstands, L-handstands and stronger executions of rolls. The Five Pea cartwheel demonstrates proper sequencing and a more refined lunge finish. Five Peas can hold their releves (tippy toes) and arabesques on beam and are developing the core strength needed to hold tucks, straddles and pikes on the bars.

Sweet Peas was created as a specialized educational gymnastics program for young children and has grown into a licensed program used by children’s facilities across the United States and internationally.
Our goal is to provide families with some of the best preschool gymnastics classes in Macomb County by combining the Sweet Peas educational curriculum with the coaching, facility and
experience of Cutting Edge Athletics.

Sweet Peas Educational Gymnastics was co-founded by Lynn Ledford, a longtime leader in children’s sports and education and one of the leaders behind Cal Elite Kids in California.
Her experience developing successful children’s programs helped shape Sweet Peas into the age-specific educational gymnastics curriculum now used by licensed facilities across the United States and internationally.
The Sweet Pea Educational Gymnastics program provides gymnastics instruction for children ages walking - 5 years. Based in traditional gymnastics, our curriculum is centered around developmentally appropriate training on the beam, bars, floor and vault. Sweet Pea classes are instructional in nature, with stated skills, learning outcomes and objectives. Our teachers are professional gymnastics instructors with specialized love for early childhood development.
MOVEMENT + LEARNING
Young children learn best when they are actively engaged.
Sweet Peas combines movement with age-appropriate learning concepts so children are developing more than gymnastics skills. While they climb, balance, roll, swing and tumble, coaches reinforce counting, colors, shapes, sequencing, spatial awareness, listening and following directions.
These activities help children build coordination, confidence, independence and important classroom-readiness skills — all while having fun and staying active.
Moving helps children learn! The cerebellum is one of the most amazing and complex parts of the brain.
About the size of a lemon, the cerebellum was long thought to control basic motor functions largely outside the realm of conscious awareness. Researchers discovered that while the cerebellum takes up only about 10% of the brain by volume, it accounts for about half of the brain's neurons!! We now know that the cerebellum regularly communicates with the highly complex centers of the brain. When we move, the cerebellum processes information back and forth to the cortex - the smart part of the brain that handles highly cognitive functions such as language, memory, attention and spatial relations. There's more! It turns out that most of the neural circuits from the cerebellum are wired as outbound – which means that the cerebellum has tremendous influence on the rest of the brain. Movement influences learning. This is one of the cornerstones of the Sweet Peas program.
Children learn best when they are moving. We have designed our gymnastics program to take advantage of the active engagement of the child's brain by incorporating educational learning objectives into our gymnastics activities.

Does my child need any gymnastics experience?
No. Sweet Peas classes are designed specifically for young children and introduce movement and gymnastics skills in an age-appropriate way.
How do I know which Sweet Peas class is right for my child?
Start with your child’s age. Sweet Peas classes are organized by developmental stage, from walking toddlers through age 5.
What should my child wear to class?
Comfortable clothing that allows easy movement works best. No buttons, zippers or skirts. Leotards are a great option but not required. Long hair should be pulled back, and jewelry should be removed before class. No socks or tights, bare feet is best.
Do parents participate in class?
Parent participation depends on the age group. 1 Pea and 2 Pea classes include parent involvement. 3 Pea, 4 Pea and 5 Pea classes are designed to build greater independence.
What does my child learn besides gymnastics?
Sweet Peas combines movement and gymnastics with age-appropriate learning that supports coordination, confidence, listening skills, independence and social development.
Can my child try a class before enrolling?
Yes. New students can try a free class before enrolling.

Make-Up missed classes! - 2 make-up tokens max / month when requested in advance of class absence.
Bonus Days! Tuition is based on a 4 week month. However, if there's a 5th week in the month, and no holiday, that class is considered a BONUS day. Cutting Edge does not bill extra for a month's 5th week.
Automatic Billing. Credit/Debit card is required on file for all classes (Visa or MasterCard). Classes are billed monthly until a Drop Class Request is submitted.
Multiple Class Discounts and Sibling Discounts. Add Gymnastics or Ninja class to your current schedule for a fraction of the price!
